This is a simple idea that kept both my girls occupied for quite some time. It works on hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills. It also helps with classification and sorting. The idea is to throw a variety of objects in a bowl. I had buttons, beads, Perler beads, paperclips, rubber bands, popcorn kernels and beans. The kids need to take tweezers to grab and sort into different bowls.

Love it! I had a college project similar to this, where we had to develop a classification system, and we could decide how to define each category (by type, by shape, by color, etc.). It could be fun to use tweezers with older and younger kids taking turns, and then have the older kids describe how they sorted items.
