Today I took a walk down memory lane and pursued some games from my childhood. The kids were familiar with some of them and some were new to them. It doesn’t always take something new or fancy. You can keep your kids occupied and having fun with some of the the classic kid games you grew up with. No supplies. Just yourself. The kids had a blast. Click through to see the games we did today:
1. Simon Says
2. Ring Around the Rosie
3. London Bridges
4. Say Say Oh Playmate (This took a lot of practice, and we just did the basic hand claps)
5. Red Light, Green Light
6. Tag
7. Mother May I – Remember the baby steps, leaps, bunny hops, spin steps, giant steps?
8. Where is Thumpkin? – click through if you are unfamiliar
9. Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes
10. Hide and Seek
My kids love to play most of those games. Ring around the rosie, red light green light and tag. It is always fun wathcing them play.
I love this! They look like they’re having a blast. We try to do incorporate games that my parents or I played as much as we can. Our little guy seems to enjoy them too! 🙂
I think they’re classics for a reason. My kids loved them too. Thanks, Gina.
AHHH – the simple ways of life are truly the best. I’m so happy to know you are teaching your children these simple games. How fun! They looked like they were having a blast! =D
They were having a blast. Simple often is always best. It’s the reason why they have more fun with a stick and a rock than many of the toys we have.
Sometimes the “Old games” are the best games! We love “Look Out for the Bear”- a version of hide and seek that I played in kindergarten gym class. Funny how you never forget some of the simple fun of childhood. Your kids are beautiful! Just found you through Wed. blog hop. Glad i stopped by.
Thank you so much, Alicia. I don’t know “Look Out for the Bear.” I’ll have to look it up. I hope you’ll stop by here again.
