Responsibility
“So then, each of us will give an account of himself to God.” – Romans 14:12
While I was thinking about responsibility, I was reminded of the high school activity where kids have to care for their eggs and make sure they don’t break. I thought I could create a word picture here for my little girls as well. I talked about how we have been given so much in our lives, and that we need to take care of these gifts with great responsibility. I related it to our friendships and other relationships that are fragile. We have a responsibility to care for the people in our lives…especially people who may be more fragile like littler kids or people who need extra help. We talked about taking special care of our earth and making sure we use our resources with responsibility. I talked about taking care of our things, like our toys and our house. We have a responsibility to care for all the gifts that we have been given because people (dad especially) works hard to provide us with special things. After talking about this and asking them questions to make sure they understood, we looked at the egg. We talked about how it is fragile and needs special care too. We then did the old fashioned relay walk with our eggs. As they walked, I reinforced the concept of taking care of fragile things (relationships, this earth and things) because that is a way of showing responsibility.
