For the most part, I’ve tried to let my kids wear what they want. This is actually really challenging for me. As long as modesty isn’t a factor and the outfit is appropriate for the occasion, I try to let them create their own identity that way. I can see this being a bit of a struggle as they want to have more desire to pick out their own things at the store. However, I am going to have to let it go a bit while lovingly guiding them in their clothing choices. Sometimes, I need to let them them look a little crazy. You should see what I’m up against around here too. These kids love to dress up in a variety of outfits a day. They’ll wear bathing suits in the middle of winter and snow pants in the middle of summer. They will want to wear swim goggles as an accessory and socks with sandals. I’m often try entertained by what they are wearing. Kenzie is very into laying right now, so she might be wearing three dresses stacked on top of one another for an occasion. Sometimes I want to let them learn the hard way by allowing sandals on a rainy day or layers upon layers in the summer. There’s definitely some guidance happening, and there are times we veto. It just happened today, actually, but for the most part, I’m trying to be a tad more flexible in my expectation here.
