Snickerdoodles are one of my favorite cookies. After tasting these Abby said, “What are these? These are my new favorite cookie.” If you have been searching for a great snickerdoodle recipe, search no further.
Snickerdoodle
1 cup butter, room temperature
1 1/2 cups white sugar
2 eggs
2 3/4 cups flour
1 tsp baking soda
2 tsp cream of tartar
1/2 tsp salt
2 Tbsp white sugar
2 tsp ground cinnamon
Preheat oven to 375. In a medium bowl, cream together softened butter and 1 1/2 cups sugar. Stir in the eggs. In a separate bowl, sift together the flour, baking soda, cream of tartar, and salt. Once mix, stir into the creamed mixture and blend well. In a different small bowl, stir together the 2 Tbsp white sugar and 2 tsp cinnamon. Roll dough into walnut-sized balls. Then, roll the balls in the cinnamon-sugar mixture. Place them onto an un-greased cookie sheet, two inches apart. Bake for 8-10 minutes. Remove from sheets after 15 minutes to cool on a wire rack. Cookies continue to solidify and collapse as they cool.
Of course, every Meaningful Mama post about baking or cooking must come with an encouragement to get your kids helping you in the kitchen.
I saw your post over at the Saturday Show and Tell and am going to take you up on this recipe! I’ve been needing a recipe for good snicker doodles–thanks!
