Today I had a substitute meaningful mama. I didn’t ask her to do projects with my kids, but when I picked them up at her house, she had. Here’s the story: There is a family at our church who is always pouring into others. They care tremendously for people. Currently, they are going through the hardest season of their lives. Needless to say, all the day to day stuff has been difficult to manage. They aren’t people who ask for help, and I had to keep pestering until they finally allowed us in. We got a team to go over and take care of the household needs from top to bottom. One of the women in our church said we could drop all the kids off at her house so we could work. She not only provided a place for them, but she had this little craft going too. I thought it was so easy for you to do with your kids, and I love my little vase, so I thought I’d pass the idea along to you. All you need is a glass jar and a strip of paper. Let the kids color the strip of paper however they want. Then, fill your vase with a beautiful fall bouquet (or any season you happen to be in right now). I am thankful for other intentional moms like this in our lives.
I also want to make a side note. Today I saw a number of women come together to serve and care for each other. This is what we have been called to do as followers of Christ. I have been so blessed to always be around believers who were really living out their faith in tangible ways. Yes, they’re sinful…we all are. However, the people I’ve met on my faith journey are constantly loving people in the most amazing ways. They are the ones out there caring for the poor, fighting against injustice, and rescuing the orphan. I know that Christianity often gets a bad wrap because we mess it up. I also know that the negative is often emphasized in the media. I want to sincerely apologize to those of you who have been wronged by people who are or claim to be believers of Jesus. I just want you to know that there are sincere Christians out there who are walking examples of what we have been called to be in this world – salt and light. I would encourage you who have felt wronged to read John and consider Jesus. Then, if you fall in love with Him, seek out a community of believers who truly seeking after God’s heart.
