Yogurt can be so healthy for you, but have you noticed the sugar content in most yogurts? It’s pretty high. Now if you follow my blog, you’ll probably think I’m a hypocrite. Yes, I do like to bake. Yes, we have sweets in our house. However, we cut back where we can. We try and save the sugar for the desserts. I try to eat healthy most of the time. I figure if we can keep things healthy most of the time, we can indulge in other goodies every once in a while. So, I’ve found a great trick for getting the sugar out of breakfast and often out of lunch. Greek yogurt is great. It’s higher in protein and has the normal probiotics as regular yogurt. I also love the texture and taste of Greek yogurt. I’ll often throw this yogurt in our smoothies. The trick to making this plain yogurt tasty is sugar free jam. I don’t know if you’ve tried 100% fruit jam like the one above, but it tastes delicious. Put some of this all fruit jam in with your Greek yogurt and you have significantly cut down on your sugar intake. If you buy 100% jam and peanut butter with no sugar with a whole grain bread, you have a healthy lunch. We’re not perfect in our diets around here, but we try and be better. This is a simple solution in making it work. One of our kids favorite breakfasts is to put this yogurt solution with All Bran (super high in fiber) and some frozen blueberries. That makes a yummy parfait that they love.
