How to Raise Organized Kids
If you want to raise organized kids, here are simple ways on how you can teach a few organization skills to your kids:
Teach Them to Use Checklists
Getting your child to use checklists to plan his to-do’s or what to pack for your vacation is one good way to teach your kids to become organized. This is one great way to let your child develop his ability to organize his time as well as to strategize his tasks. Here is a great example.
Assign them Chores that would Involve Sorting and Categorizing Things
There are plenty of activities or chores that can help your child develop his organizing, categorizing and sorting skills. Some of these activities include cleaning out the closet, grocery shopping, making lists, arranging things and many more.
Have a Place for Everything
Keep in mind that children will best learn if they will see you as an example. That is why it is recommended that you practice a few organizational skills too and one of the examples that you should show them is you have to set a place for all of your items and make sure they know where to put their things. In the event that they will see a toy lying around, they will be able to know where they should put it back. Have organizational bins or drawers for all of their things.
Set Up Study Time
One of the best ways to stay organized is to keep a regular schedule. If you want your children to be organized and studious, it is recommended that you implement a regular study schedule for them. To help them enjoy studying and to make it easy for them to stick to the schedule, it is recommended that you create a space that is conducive for learning. It’s also good to set up a homework station that has everything they will need for study. Here is a great example.
Establish a Weekly Cleaning Schedule
Encourage your children to go through their things, organized their notebooks, clean their closets and arrange their toys on a weekly basis. This would teach them to clean their things on a regular basis even as they grow up. Plus, it prevents trash and garbage from piling up.
Keep in mind that raising organized kids is no easy feat. There are times when they will not understand what they need to do and what you want them to do. That is why you should try to remain patient in educating them. Instead of scolding them, try to find ways to explain to them how important it is to be organized and what they can do to stay organized.

I think this is such a great article. The tips were awesome and I love that you mentioned that they aren’t going to get it the first time around. Look at it as a teaching moment. Stay calm and explain to them why you are doing this and things will go much smoother!
Definitely a teaching moment. Over and over and over again. Thanks so much for your encouragement!
