The Mom Quilt is an eBook compiled by myself, Becky Mansfield and Paula Rollo to benefit the Mercy House in Kenya, founded by Kristen Welch.
I am so excited about what I get to share with you today. Writing my blog has become a huge passion. My desire has been to inspire intentional parenting and to come alongside you on this mom journey – the good bad and the ugly. I want to use Meaningful Mama to make a difference in lives. As I’ve watched my platform grow, I have realized that I can use what I’ve been given to do something bigger. My heart for moms remain, and out of this heartbeat was born a new project – “The Mom Quilt.”
You may have seen another post I wrote called “Ready to Change a Life?” That post was a call for writers to be part of a project where 100% of the proceeds will be donated to the Mercy House. It also outlines, more thoroughly, the goals of this venture. After hours of work and many women pouring out their hearts in written word, “The Mom Quilt” is compiled and ready for your purchase. The eBook will be based on donation, with a minimum donation of $9.99. If you want to give more than $9.99, please change the number in your shopping cart.
We have had over 60 moms write a portion of their mom story to contribute to the book. This collection of short stories capture the unique journey of motherhood. The stories are full of joys and hardships, but the common thread is that they are full of love and end in hope. I was able to read each woman’s story as they began to fill up our inbox. I have cried. I have laughed out loud. I have been completely inspired by the strength and wisdom of these moms. The stories have challenged me and given me a better perspective of the gift I have been given with my children. I cannot wait for you to be re-energized in your purpose and value as a mom.

This book will be an inspiration to you, but the other exciting component of this book is that through the purchase of this book you will be helping to save and improve lives of women and children across the globe. Every penny donated to the purchase of this book will be going to build a water well for the Mercy House in Kenya. The well costs $40,000 to build, and our goal is to sell enough books or receive enough donations to raise the money needed to bring water to this organization. Currently, water is trucked in from miles away. It is costly in time and money and we would love to take away that stress and expense from the ministry so they are freed up to focus in other areas. You can read more about the Mercy House by clicking here.
Currently the book is only available in the form of a eBook. We want 100% of the proceeds to go to the Mercy House, and there are great costs associated with printing the book. Once we have reached our $40,000 goal, we hope to have it printed for those who would like to give it as a gift. What exactly is an eBook? Can you read it if you do not have an eReader? Yes!! It is a PDF, so it can be read on a computer, phone or tablet. There is also a way to convert it to a Kindle. Here is a link that will tell you how to do that.
If you want to stay on top of the our progress and receive periodical emails as the project moves forward, please sign up to receive “The Mom Quilt” newsletter.
UPDATE: We have met our goal! Just look at the drilling going on. How exciting and humbling to be a part of bringing water to a community. Proceeds will continue to go the the needs of the women at the Mercy House. A paperback version of this book is in the works.
