I love the “Choose Joy” statement our family has adopted this week, and I have decided that I would like it to be one of our family catch phrases. We have grasped onto certain catch phrases along the way that are lessons that our children are learning. Rather than going through a long description of things over and over and drive your children crazy, these are quick little phrases that have tons of meaning because of what you have trained.
I had a small canvas and a couple acrylic craft paints. I buy an inexpensive acrylic paint– this one was called “Craft Smart.” I also had some of my collection of letter stickers. The first thing I did was put down stickers that spelled out our phrase. I tried to push them down as much as possible so paint wouldn’t leak in behind.
Next, we had our kids paint over the canvas and stickers in one color.
When it’s dry, have them pull up the stickers for the big reveal. I did a final step of sanding over it, but you can’t tell in this picture. Doing that brings out some of the white canvas underneath.
Love it!
Thanks so much.
So cute! Love how your girls are working together to do it! Love the idea of doing the stickers and then painting over- easier for little hands to peel off!
came via TGIF!
It is, and I was surprised at how quick this craft was. You should have seen the excitement on their faces as they started peeling the stickers off. They really didn’t know what to expect.
Wow- this is just gorgeous, I am so made up to have discovered your blog! i would be greatly honoured if you were to choose to include Seasonal Celebration in your linky list. Do pop over and take a look, it would be great to see you there! http://naturalmothersnetwork.com/seasonal-celebration-sunday/seasonal-celebration-sunday-5/

I’m glad you found me. I hope you’ll continue checking in to see what we’re all about. Thank you for the invitation.
That says it all! We all need this daily reminder, don’t we? I love the finished look and how fun that it was a family project 🙂
It does. Just telling my husband that everything I’m teaching my kids is exactly what I still need to learn.
I’ve never thought to put stickers on canvas so you can pull them off later! I love the idea! Thanks for linking up to Fun Stuff Fridays!
Yeah – This was my first time trying it too. My only advice is to make sure the stickers are pushed down well. Thanks for hosting us.
