This year we had a Cannon Beach Thanksgiving. We have done this trip with my husband’s family a couple times now. I think it is becoming a bit of tradition, and we all love it. We do every other year with my family or my husband’s family for Thanksgiving. We used to do both, and we liked doing both. However, the more kids we had, the harder it became. So, we’ve had to do every other year. That has made it possible for my husband’s side of the family to do a trip like Cannon Beach. Everyone that works takes off work on Wednesday, and we get 5 days in a row of just relaxing and being together. We read, watch movies, play games, walk the beach, entertain the kids, go to town and eat. This blog has been a way for me to both document and share our lives. Today, you gain a little picture into our Thanksgiving trip. My family gains memories and the history of our lives together.
The night we arrived was beautiful. The sunsets here were amazing. This is the view from the back yard of the house my in-laws were generous enough to rent for all of us.
Here is a couple of pictures of the house itself. It was gorgeous and accommodated us all very well. Out of the three houses that have been tried, I think this is the one we will try and snag again. It’s in a town outside of Cannon Beach called Manzanita. This is on the Pacific Ocean in Oregon State.
We celebrated Corban’s birthday with the family while we were there. He opened gifts, which was perfect because it provided new toys for them all to play with while we were on vacation. He received a “bat cave” from Grandpa and Grandma, and after that we barely saw him.
My mother-in-law did everything to make Thanksgiving feel like Thanksgiving. She even packed up table decorations to make the trip. She insisted on doing all the cooking, which was a treat. We were all able to just sit back and relax. She really enjoys serving in this way.
At the Thanksgiving dinner table we received the big announcement (via bib) that Julie (my husband’s sister) and Lucas (her husband) are expecting another baby. We are so excited to meet this new one – arriving this summer.
My kids probably played on the I-Pad way too much. It’s a luxury I don’t often afford myself, but hey – it was vacation. They loved it.
Look at these cuties!
We also went to the town of Cannon Beach to do some shopping, browsing and eating. We love this town.
The experience wouldn’t have been complete without a trip to Bruce’s Candy Kitchen. We used the same vacation reward system as last time we came to Cannon Beach. It worked really well and was a huge motivator.
