We didn’t hugely push potty training in our house. They made it evident when they were ready to start trying. We talked about it, and we had a couple books we’d read about it, but they eventually showed interest. One thing we did do to help the process along once they initiated it was to have a huge celebration every time there was success. We had a little chant that basically went, “Pee Pee in the Potty, Pee Pee in the Potty, Pee Pee in the Potty, Pee Pee in the Po-ah-Tee.” Maybe you’d need to hear it – lol. You can make up your own song or chant. We’d dance and treat it like a party every time they went. I heard the technique long before I had kids on some talk show about raising kids. They even talked about making it into a a bigger deal than we even did – complete with hats, party blowers, confetti, treats, etc. The main idea is to celebrate their achievements on the potty in a big way.
