Learn to Play Again

November 4, 2012 · by jodidurr · Leave a Comment

I thought I had already given this advice, but I couldn’t find it when I searched back. If I’m repeating myself, forgive me. I was surprised to find that I had forgotten how to play when I became a mom. My imagination had somehow disappeared. I would become bored quickly when playing with the kids. However, I have been able to get some of it back with practice. It takes a lot more work. Something in life changes us as we grow. It’s great that kids keep us young. It is important to remember to have tea parties, build castles, race cars, play dress-up, pretend like you are a monster and sit at the doll house making up stories with your kids. It probably will not be the most fun you have ever had in your life, but it will mean a lot to your kids and teach them how to use their own imaginations also. We sat and built towers with the legos the other day, and this tip came to the surface. It takes you leaving your “to do” list and cell phone behind and living in the moment.
