Ingredients

  • 12 Rhodes Frozen Dinner Rolls
  • 6 cups vegetable oil for frying

Instructions

  • In a 9" x 13" pan defrost Rhode's frozen dinner rolls according to package directions. For the regular method, which takes 3-5 hours, spray your pan with cooking spray. Then, cover with plastic wrap, sprayed on the inside with cooking spray to prevent sticking. Let rise 3-5 hours or until doubled in size.
  • Heat one inch oil in large cooking pan to 365-375 degrees.
  • Once oil is heated, stretch out dough to roughly a 6-7 inch circle.
  • Lay dough into heated oil. I could fit 3 elephant ears in my 11" pan.
  • While dough is cooking, press lightly with tongs to cover completely in oil. Once edges start to look golden, flip the elephant ear.
  • Cook until golden brown on each side. Place on a paper towel to drain.
  • Brush melted butter onto the elephant ear and your favorite toppings. Serve immediately.

Notes

Optional Elephant Ear Toppings:
  • Cinnamon & Sugar (my personal favorite)
  • Jam
  • Chocolate Sauce
  • Salted Caramel Sauce
  • Buttercream Frosting
  • Lemon Juice and Powdered Sugar (how I like my Dutch Babies)
  • Honey
