“Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets theprize? Run in such a way as to get the prize.” 1 Corinthians 9:24 NIV
Today I set up five stations for the girls to try and persevere through. These are fun challenges that teach perseverance.
For more fun ways to teach your kids about perseverance, I hope you’ll check out all of my other activities.
They were tasks that the girls probably wouldn’t be able to accomplish on their first try. Before beginning, we reviewed the meaning and scripture that goes along with perseverance. Then, we went to the stations. They could only move on to the next stations after they completed one. This activity can be adapted to any age level depending on what would challenge them, but here are the tasks we set before them:
Ball on Spoon
Bean Bag Toss
Ping Pong Ball Bounce
We talked the entire time about how they needed to persevere to accomplish the tasks. After they had accomplished all the tasks at hand, we repeated our Bible Verse, “Do you not know that in a race, all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize.” – 1 Corinthians 9:24It was also an opportunity to talk to the kids about really celebrating each others’ victories. There was a lot of cheering and sibling comradery happening.
I made simple ribbons to pin on them at the award ceremony.
Yes, I do have a one year old. Where was he the whole time? I have no pictures of it, but he was chasing the balls, bean bags and rings all around the living room.
