Honesty
“The Lord does not like lying lips, but He delights in man who is truthful.” – Proverbs 12:22
“Truth or Lie” is a simple game that helps kids really understand the basics of honesty. All you do is make a statement that they would be familiar with and then walk to the side of the line to represent if they think it’s the truth or the lie. Here are some of my example:
* “I have purple hair.”
* “Your bedroom is upstairs.”
* “Dad drives a bus for work.”
* “We had lasagna for breakfast.”
* “I am shorter than your dad.”
I took the first turn saying the truth or lie. After playing for a bit, I let the girls come up with their own so that I could guess.
love the ideas of this simple little game what great way to have some fun with our little ones and check their skills of honesty come see what I shared at http://shopannies.blogspot.com
Thanks so much for directing me to your site. I enjoyed looking around at all you have to offer. Thank you for coming by my site too.
Truth or lie is a good idea if used for the right reasons. My estranged wife live nearly 300 miles away from my 5 year old daughter and to build her case she constantly each night says these things. Would it be the truth or a lie if I asked if you brushed your teeth tonight? Would it be the truth or a lie if I asked if you took a bath tonight? Would it be the truth or a lie if I asked if you had a good dinner tonight? Would it be the truth or a lie if I asked if you brushed your teeth this morning? Etc. When she asked KS these questions on video messenger each of the three alloted times I have scheduled for her my dau g her acts out major. I can see it being worthwhile as a game but not to create a storylin. For her case in our divorce. It’s just not healthy when used that way. I have the responsibility of calming her down afterward and I can tell you it isn’t easy. I am up for any challenge when it comes to my daughter but in my opinion it isn’t healthy when used the way my wife is using it.
I hear your concerns. I’m sorry for how your wife is using this concept. I find that teaching concepts in a playful way with games is a great way to learn a lesson. However, there are definitely harmful ways to teach kids. Wishing you the best as you aim to raise your daughter in love and good teaching.
