Today’s post is very easy for me. My sister-in-law, Julie, created an amazing pink and orange first birthday party for my sweet niece, Ainsley. I was amazed by the party but not shocked. Julie has an amazing eye and great attention to detail. When I walked in I said, “Ooo – Thanks for doing my next blog post.” Am I a blog cheater if it isn’t my hard work that went into the fabulous party? I couldn’t let a beautiful party like this stay hidden from the world. With Julie’s permission, I get to share it with you.
First of all, look at the cutie. It doesn’t get much sweeter than that. She has been such an easy little girl, and Julie and Lucas (her dad) have navigated parenthood beautifully.
Here are the fabulous invitations she created. I hope you find them inspirational when creating your own parties. I do need to clarify that the weird rectangle on the bottom of the first one was me covering up the location of the party for privacy sake.
I love the idea of doing this picture wall to cover her growth over the first year of life. They had these frames in this location anyway, so to add these pictures to celebrate Ainsley on her big day was brilliant.
The cupcakes were adorable. She used my White Velvet Cake Recipe and my Favorite Buttercream Recipe. I love the simple buttercream swirl in the pink and orange colors. The sparkling sprinkles completed the look.
Julie paid attention to every detail. I love how the little flags over the cupcakes that say “Happy Birthday Ainsley.” So adorable.
We were able to have a Mexican feast too. So yummy. She had homemade pom poms over the food area. If you need instructions on how to make homemade tissue paper pom poms, make sure to click back and see my tutorial.
I love these little Jelly Belly jars that were set at each table setting. The kids loved them too!
Here’s the cute table setting all put together.
Of course you can’t miss the table setting for the birthday girl. I love, love the huge balloon.
Look at this adorable hat Julie made for Ainsley. I love it. So cute and creative. Unfortunately, Ainsley wasn’t as huge of a fan and refused to wear it.
These were the goodie bags Abby, Kenzie and Corban were able to take their Jelly Belly homes in. She hand stamped each of these bags. She also hand stamped the napkins in a similar pattern, which is such an adorable idea. You can see those in the table setting scene above.
Pink lemonade and pink paper straws definitely help complete the look.
Even the coffee corner had every detail in place. You can kind of see the hand stamped napkins in this photo too.
I love that she made the wrapping match the entire look.
She had the cute flag theme carried on in the living room, and they were also greeting us on the front door step when we arrived.
The birthday girl matched the party perfectly.
Here’s our beautiful hostess and the talented woman behind the designs you see today. My husband knows full well that none of it would happen without the support of a great man. Thanks, Lucas.
Here’s the family ready to celebrate.
Here we are with our “so big” niece.
We couldn’t get Ainsley to even try the cupcake. I even put some frosting on her lip and made her cry. Silly girl didn’t know what she was missing.
Opening gifts was a lot of fun too.
So glad to celebrate this sweet girl, and I really hope you feel inspired by such a beautiful pink and orange first birthday party.
One of my favorite color combinations! The photo collage was a nice touch!
Thank you so much. My sister-in-law is super talented.
What an adorable birthday party! Looks like a lot of labor and love was put into it. Thanks for sharing the sweet pictures and ideas. Hope you have a great night~

This is the cutest party! I just love it to pieces!
This is so cute! I love the idea of just using colors as the theme! It worked so well, and looked super great!
Love the party! Adorable! Just one question, were those the curtains julie already had in the kitchen or did she make those for the party?!?
Julie already had the curtains. I asked the same question. 🙂 We had so much fun at your place. Thank you so so much for letting us stay there.

Thanks for sharing such a special day with us Jodi. A beautiful looking party and I totally LOVE the Orange and Pink combo! How did you make your pink lemonade? Cheers, Julia 🙂
Hi Julia! Thanks for commenting. They just sell pink lemonade in the stores in the U.S. Do they not have that in Australia? Here’s a recipe I found online if you want to try and make it from scratch: http://cookingbride.com/beverages/homemade-pink-lemonade/. I hope that’s helpful.
Where did you get the straw tags printed/downloaded?
My sister-in-law actually did the party and cut them all by hand. Sorry I don’t have a resource for you. She’s a rock star. She printed out all the names onto the paper and then used a template she had made to cut out, lining it up with the placement of the names. I hope that is helpful.
