Thoroughness
“Whatever your hands find to do, do it with all your might.” – Ecclesiastes 9:10a
Thoroughness means doing things in a complete way. Do you ever get to the end of a puzzle and feel the disappointment of missing pieces? Ahh! You worked so hard, and it’s not complete. I manufactured this experience for the girls. I stole a couple pieces before we began. Then, we went to work together. We got to the end of the puzzle and then went to look for the missing pieces. I used this opportunity to speak about how things don’t feel quite right when they are not complete. When we work hard and yet don’t finish, there’s definitely something missing. That is why it is important to be thorough. When I was a camp counselor, I did the same word picture to talk about handing over our lives to God. If we want to hold on to certain parts and not hand over our lives completely, it doesn’t feel right. We aren’t really having the completeness that God intends. I used this opportunity to talk about that concept as well.
