First came the baking. Abby loves Funfetti Cake – who doesn’t?! I love my little sous chefs. I have a number of cake recipes I love, but it was the half-birthday girl’s choice.
I made up the buttercream frosting (which yielded compliments from the teachers and kids), and Kenzie was able to assemble all the hats. It was a quick tutorial for her, and she was able to do all of them by herself. I came up the idea to use Rolo minis and Nabisco 100 calorie Oreo thin crisps for the hats. We just used some of the frosting to adhere them together.
I then frosted the cupcakes with a large round tips and a swirl motion moving from the outside of the cupcake in.
Next it is time to assemble the face. As you can see, it consists of candy corns and candy eyes. These eyes can be found in in the cake section of a craft store. Our grocery store is also selling them now, which makes things very convenient.
Great job for all of you!! You have a blog full of lovely ideas.
