Today we made cloud dough out of two simple ingredients…well, I actually used three even though the recipe calls for two. The ingredients? Flour and baby oil. I only had 1/2 cup baby oil, so I added 1/2 cup vegetable oil as well. It worked just fine. The mom I got the recipe from substituted the baby oil is canola oil, and that worked well for her. The actual recipe is as follows:
Cloud Dough
8 cups flour
1 cup baby oil
Mix together until thoroughly combine. I just had my kids mix it together with their hands, and they loved that.
This was a lot of fun. Have you ever played with moon dough? It’s a great texture, but it’s expensive. This was a wonderful alternative. The kids had fun making it and then molding it and shaping it in our bin. Each of them could be involved in the activity and seemed to keep them occupied for a while. Having the silicone cups was fun, but they seemed to just enjoy shaping them in their hands, the measuring cups and spoons the best.
We did cloud dough last winter and the best part of it to me was the smell… heavenly. My 18 month old loved squishing it in her hands.
Isn’t it great. I love the smell too, and when I showed my husband the result I just sat and played with it. It was actually really relaxing. Thanks for stopping by. Loved stopping by your site today too. :0)
This is awesome! I have both ingredients plus three little ones at my house today. Looks like we’ll be making some!! Thanks for the tip! 🙂
Did you make it? I hope it was fun for everyone. We got it out again yesterday to play with it.
