Part of our goal this week was to make sure that our girls were being courteous to each other. We have noticed that they are beginning to learn to get on each others nerves, despite how much they enjoy each other. Today I talked about what it looks like to be courteous to our sister – letting her go first, respecting her boundaries, being thoughtful and kind, and using nice words. Today, we had a little reward system going on. Every time I saw them making courteous choices toward their sister, I would put a fruit loop in their bowl. At the end of the day, I had them make a fruit loop bracelet with the cereal they had earned. On Kid’s Activities Blog I saw her put cheerios onto a pipe cleaner. I thought a pipe cleaner was a brilliant idea, so I adopted that method here. It really works on fine motor skills. It’s a great version of the candy bracelets. Hopefully, a day to focus on being to their siblings will create healthier habits in their relationship.
