I have focused a lot on reading with my kids and not enough on math. I love math, so I’m surprised I haven’t done much with it. Today was simple and more geared at Kenzie’s age. I want to get her learning how to identify numbers and count. She knows how to count, but when she is counting actual items, she often times skips or counts too many at a time. I basically divided a sheet into six sections. I asked them to give me numbers between 1 and 10. Then, I had them throw pennies. If their penny landed on a number, they got to collect that many beans. If you don’t have beans, you can collect paper clips, rocks, Cheerios – anything. Whoever had the most beans in the end wins.
What a fun idea, we’re going to be using it soon!
Great! I hope you have fun with it.
Hi Jodi! We played this game this afternoon and had a ton of fun! It also showed me how both of my boys need to work on 1:1 correspondence. Thanks for the fun game!
