Wisdom
“For the Lord gives wisdom, and from His mouth comes knowledge and understanding.
“Proverbs 2:6
There’s a website called Ministry to Children that inspired this activity. I gave my children a variety of scenarios. If they thought the kid in the story was making a wise choice they would make a W with their fingers. If they thought the choice was unwise, they’d cross their arms and make a buzzer sound. Here are the scenarios I used:
* There was a new kid in Derek’s class who seemed mean. The other kids started talking but about him. Derek didn’t like how this boy acted, so he started saying how mean the boy was to all his friends. (UW)
* Karen was at a movie party at her friend’s house. All the kids started watching a movie that Karen knew her mom wouldn’t like her to watch. Karen decided to go to the other room and play with dolls. (W)
* Chris didn’t understand the Bible, so he just stopped reading it. (UW)
* Tracy had a lot of friends. Sometimes they didn’t always do what was right. When she was around them, she made bad decisions too. She decided to hang out more with the friends that helped her follow God. (W)
* Mandy had a friend who had a great toy that she wasn’t sharing. That didn’t seem fair to Mandy, so when her friend wasn’t looking, she took the toy. (UW)
* Kevin’s mom was inside making lunch. Grandma’s car came rolling in the driveway, so Kevin immediately started running toward the car to greet his grandma. (UW)
* Yvette really wanted a toy that her friend had. She decided to take it home with her without asking. She felt that she had taken the doll, so she returned it and asked for forgiveness. (W)
* David saw someone drop their garbage on the ground. He picked it up and threw it away. (W)
* Tammy’s dad told her to eat her vegetables, but Tammy didn’t want them, so she decided not to eat them. (UW)
* Steven found a piece of candy. He decided to ask his mom if he could eat it. (W)
What a great idea! 🙂 I will use this and check out that website. I have two books (one for girls and one for boys) titled “God’s wisdom for little boys/girls” by Jim & Elizabeth George. It teaches them what God wants His little girls and boys to be according to Proverbs. I love it.
I’ll have to check out those books. Thank you so much for sharing that!
