Honesty
“The Lord does not like lying lips, but He delights in man who is truthful.” – Proverbs 12:22
I’m always a huge proponent of teaching through literature. Kids grasp all sorts of concepts by relating to characters in a book. Why should our character series be any different? Today we were able to look at a few books that we either owned or borrowed from our church library. I have talked about Joy Berry’s “Help Me Be Good Series.” I know you can buy the whole series as a pack on Amazon. The “Building Christian Character” book series (“Max and the Big Fat Lie”) by Michael P. Waite is definitely one of my favorite group of books for the kids. I also had my own childhood book of Aesop fables, so we were able to read about “The Shepherd Boy and the Wolf.” I love these fables because they have the message written right at the end of the story. If you are looking for other books on the topic, here’s a good reference site. You can go to your local library, bookstore or online shopping to find what you are looking for to teach your own kids about honesty.
