“You don’t get what you want. You get what you emphasize,” is a quote I have heard the Pritchards use a number of times. The concept is pretty simple. You need to look toward the long term and keep life intentional to see the results you want. You can dream of seeing certain things in your children. Until you start to invest the time and energy it takes, you won’t see results. We don’t want to hammer things down our kids throats. The best way to get the results you want is to model it in a genuine way. However, there is intentionality in the way you live, act, talk and what you emphasize. Set the priorities for your kids and then live them out with your kids. You can hope all you want, but until you being to emphasize, things will remain stagnant.
