I Scream for Ice Cream Giveaway

I bring to you my I Scream for Ice Cream giveaway. Who can resist the frozen treats of summer? Unilever brand brings you some of your favorite flavors for summer. Unilever has six ice cream brands that will surely cool your taste buds: Fruttare, MAGNUM Ice Cream, Good Humor, Breyers, Popsicle, and Klondike. Each brand offers unique and flavorful dessert treats for you and your friends and family to enjoy. We are currently on vacation with my husband’s entire extended family on one side. That means we have a lot of aunts, uncles, grandparents and cousins around. We have 35 people on vacation with us, but only about half were here for the big taste test. I was given the opportunity to try out all of these different brands of summer treats for review. I couldn’t think of a better environment to gather opinions and give honest reviews of the Unilever products. We had a lot of people wanting to weigh in on the vote. Can you blame them? What I did was cut all of the bars into bite size pieces for all to enjoy. We then weighed in on opinions and favorites.

The number one favorite for the adults was the Magnum Ice Cream bar. I had picked out the Magnum pack I wanted, so I chose the double caramel made with Belgium chocolate. This was hands down the winner of the taste test (at least in the over 8 years old group). I had people vote for their first and second choice. The quality of the ice cream was definitely a high caliber, with a creaminess we all loved. The chocolate was also rich and smooth.

The Reese’s Peanut Butter Ice Cream Cups by a Good Humor were the second choice among the adults. It really was everything you love about a Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup but in ice cream form. If I had to choose between the candy and the ice cream, I’d definitely go for the ice cream.

The kids’ hands down favorite choice was the Firecrackers from Popsicle. My husband was exactly right in his assessment of the whole experience. It really depends what you are in the mood for at that particular moment. On this obvious sunny day by the pool, the Firecrackers definitely hit the spot. The icy goodness cooled you down immediately. There’s a light freshness when you bit into a Popsicle, which is why I voted this one my 2nd favorite, after the Magnum. It was just a Popsicle kind of day.

The rest of these are in no particular order as they all received some votes but weren’t the clear cut favorites.

It was hard to choose between all the Breyers flavors at the store. Part of me wanted to try something new and part of me wanted to go with a classic tried and true flavor. I decided to try the Girl Scout thin mints. This made the vote for a few people. We all liked it a lot. A couple people said that they’d probably prefer the classic chocolate chip mint, although they still liked this one. Sometimes it’s hard to leave the favorites behind.

Fruttare offers a lighter flavor. I chose the strawberry and milk flavor to bring in a creamy element to this fruity dessert. We enjoyed it. There was one person that didn’t care for it, but most people felt like it tasted light and refreshing and was a great choice for a hot, summer day.

Last but not least is the Klondike Bar. We all had to sing the jingle, “What would you do for a Klondike bar?” as these were handed out. Everyone loves a classic ice cream sandwich. If you are cutting calories, we noticed that these were a better option than some of the other choices. Fruttare was right there in calorie count. We all had a place in our hearts for this classic summer favorite.

For those gluten free folks in my audience, we did have one gluten free tester. According to her package reading, she was able to eat the Reese’s Good Humor, Magnum, Fruttare and Popsicle, and I listed them in order of her favorites to her least favorites.

It was really fun to do an frozen summer treat taste test like this. It would be great for you to do with your own family too.
