I am at Blissdom, my first ever blogging conference. Part of going to my first blogging conference was pursuing my first ever blog business card. I have heard it said that you want people to see your business card and say, “If that’s her business card, I certainly want to check out her blog.” That can be true of any business. You want your business card to draw people in to what you have to offer. Because of that, I wanted to think outside the box. I wanted to be able to present something unique that might want to attract people to the content of my blog. These metal business cards were exactly what I had in mind…actually, better than what I had in mind.
If you know the logo on my site, you know that I have a metal, industrial feeling going on here. Fun fact: The metal in my logo is actually a picture of one of my cookie sheets. My extremely talented husband was able to create graphically what I envisioned as the overall style for my blog? Why the industrial, brick style? I like it. I would add these elements if I were ever to build my dream house. I also wanted my blog to have an overall different look than other blogs you might encounter.
Let’s get back to the story of my business cards. As I was dreaming of what my ideal business card might look like, I thought, “How cool would it be to get one made out of metal? Does anyone do that?” I had no idea. What do you do if you have no idea? You Google it. I did, and I found a local company that did exactly what I wanted. My Google search let me to Metal Cards. You need to click on the link and check out their designs. Not only can a metal card be done, but this company obviously has the art of it down. I loved all the different cards I saw on their website. I was so impressed with the graphic design skills they obviously possessed. Not only was the metal medium so amazing for a business card, but their designs were unique, graphic and appealing. I was so excited to find this company, and I contacted them immediately. I also was excited it was a Seattle company because I love to support things locally.
You can check out their contact page to get in touch with this company to make your own business cards out of metal. I was able to show them my blog, tell them the fonts we used and the information I wanted to be on my own business card. I really wanted to keep things simple. If the people I give my card to have my blog address, they have access to all of my other contact information and social media addresses. I wanted a clean design. Metal Cards sent me back 4 different options in design. He made it really hard to choose because there were 4 great concepts. I ended up taking a couple of the different card designs and merging them together to get exactly what I wanted. He was willing to tweak my business card design until I was satisfied.
I really hope you will consider Metal Cards when you or someone you know is designing a business card. The only disadvantage to these cards is that when you have a business card the goal is to give them away. I really don’t want to hand them out as much as I should. I have had a couple friends ask for one, and hoarded them until the conference. I am kind of in love with the whole concept.
