“Be joyful always.” – 1 Thessalonians 5:16
How Full is Full?
We talked about another verse today – “I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete” (John 15:11). I put a cup of water into another dish to prevent spilling. Then, I poured water into the cup until it was filled right up to the brim. I asked the girls, “What do you think would happen if you dropped a paper clip into the water?” They weren’t sure where I was headed, so I asked if they thought it would overflow off the top. They concluded it would because it was already all the way full. So, I let them drop a paper clip in. Nothing. They kept going, nothing. We kept dropping and dropping and nothing overflowed. We ran out of paper clips and started on pennies. I talked about God’s love and joy he has for us. It may seem to us that there’s no more room, but He always have more to give if we trust in Him.
