Super Dad Card with a Free Printable
When my kids were little, they had a conversation with their dad and found out his favorite superhero is Superman. With his birthday quickly approaching, they thought it would be fun to make a Superman-themed card.
Today, you get the result of this idea, a full tutorial, and a free printable so you can recreate this DIY dad card for yourself. As you can see below, I did all the heavy lifting with the design so you don’t have to.

Materials Needed to Make this Superman Card for Dad
- Free Super Dad Symbol Printable
- Ruler
- Heavy Stock Paper in Red, Yellow, and Blue
- Exacto Knife or Cricut Cutting Machine (if you have been dragging your feet on purchasing a Cricut, maybe this is your sign to do so.
- Glue Stick
- Paper Cutter and/or scissors

How to Create a DIY Superhero Card for Dad
- If using an Exacto knife, print out the free printable onto red stock paper. If using a Cricut, upload the design to your Cricut design studio and let it do the heavy lifting.
- For my Cricut users, the work is done. If you are using an Exacto knife, use a ruler as a guide to help you carefully cut out around the dad symbol. Of course, you will have to freehand the rounded parts. Older kids might enjoy this challenge. Younger kids should definitely have parent assistance, or you can do this part for them.
- Next, trace the outer edge of the super dad symbol onto yellow paper. Using a paper cutter or scissors, cut out this shape slightly smaller than the actual shape so that the red part will cover it well. Hopefully, the kids will be able to help trace and cut this part.
- Cut your blue paper to the desired size. Remember that you will be folding this, so make it twice as big as you want the final card to be.
- Fold the blue paper in half to make it into a card.
- Cut a piece of yellow paper slightly smaller than the inside of the card. This will be the area you can write all your sweet messages on for dad.
- Using a glue stick, glue everything in place. There will be a yellow paper glued to the inside of the card with a slight border of blue. On the outside of the card, the yellow unequal pentagon will be centered on the blue card with the point going down. Finally, the Dad symbol will be glued on top.
I hope Dad loves receiving the card and feels honored by the effort.
