This is my lion puppet craft from AWANA Cubbies Bear Hug #11. I have been doing an AWANA Cubbies series to create crafts for the Cubbies Bear Hug lessons. These crafts can be used if you are a leader at Cubbies, but you can also use it for any classroom, church or home experience. Bear Hug #11 is all about Daniel and the Lions’ Den. The scripture for this lesson is, “Evening, morning and moon I cry out…” Psalm 55:17 and teaches about God’s faithfulness as we cry out to Him. Sorry I got this post up a bit late for some of you following along. I’m going to try and get a bunch up quickly.
You will need a brown paper bag, glue, box & bag shred, a marker, buttons and google eyes. I bought the shredded paper in red, yellow and brown at the Dollar Tree. I bought the bags there also. It is a very inexpensive craft.
The shredded paper was my choice for the mane, but you could also do ripped construction paper, cut up foam pieces, squares of tissue paper wrapped around a pencil eraser and attached with glue or torn up streamers.
I used a lot of glue to make sure the shredded paper attached well. the shredded paper was longer than I wanted, so I ripped those in two to make them shorter. The kids could cut them up with scissors too.
