Fall is upon us, which means fall crafts for kids at Meaningful Mama. This 3D fall tree paper craft with curled paper is my newest creation. It is a beautiful and simple design kids will enjoy.

3D Fall Tree Paper Craft
Whether you are a teacher looking for a great fall tree paper craft to do with kids or a parent or caregiver looking for fall activities to do at home with kids, this is a great solution.
Using just paper, glue, a pencil and scissors, your kids can easily create this 3D Fall Tree Paper Craft. I can just imagine a bunch of these on display in a home or in the walls of a school building.
Many age groups should be able to accomplish this task. I would say first grade and up. The hardest part is holding the paper tightly as you wrap it around the pencil, but this also can be learned.
I created a free tree printable for you, but the trees can alternatively be cut by the kids’ own design or you could use their hand and arm as the tree branch, like in this other tree craft idea.
Materials Needed to Make 3D Fall Tree Paper Craft
- Fall Colored Stock Paper or construction paper (reds, oranges, yellows and a brown & white or sky blue) – less than one sheet per color per kid
- Paper Cutter and/or Scissors
- Pencil
- Glue – Either a glue stick or white glue would work
- Free Paper Tree Template
How to Make 3D Fall Tree Paper Craft

For those of you who prefer written instructions for how to make this 3D fall tree paper craft, here is a step-by-step tutorial:
- Print out the free tree trunk printable onto brown paper or draw your own.
- Cut out tree trunk, and flip over before printing.
- Glue to a blank piece of white or sky blue paper. Another option is to add a strip of green grass if desired. The grass can even be fringed, like in this craft.
- Cut strips of yellow, orange and red paper 1/2″ wide and approximately 3 1/2″ long. I cut 4 strips on the long end of a typical 8.5″x11″ piece of stock paper and then cut it in thirds.
- Roll each cut strip around a pencil tightly and release. This gives you loads of curled paper.
- Attach the curled paper onto the tree branches using glue. Try and vary the colors with even distribution.
You’re done. You’ve done a great fall craft with your kids. Hang it on the walls, on the fridge, or on the windows to enjoy this season. Maybe gift it to a grandparent to bring them joy.
