Day #126 Diligence with Thomas Edison – Character Development, Week #18
Diligence
Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men.

When I searched the internet for teaching diligence to kids, the story that kept appearing was Thomas Edison. I thought, there must be something to this. So, I decided to read his story and then share it with my kids. I found a simple version of his life at Garden of Praise. The main point I was trying to get across to the kids by looking at his story was diligence. Did you know he tried 1500 different materials before he found a proper filament for the light bulb? I talked to my kids about how Thomas Edison’s willingness to try and try again without giving up is the whole reason we have lights in our house today. We also watched this short YouTube video.
After watching the video, I wrote diligence on a light bulb and put it into our lamp. I said that the light would be a reminder to us of how much we can accomplish if we stick to things.

So we implement a Character Education in our school – Riga Catholic Gymnasium I am very interest in different useful ideas, stories and methodology in the teaching-learning process of values and virtues.
