Attentiveness
“We must pay more careful attention, therefore, to what we have heard, so that we do not drift away.” – Hebrews 2:1
The kids really enjoyed the activity for today. Part of attentiveness is learning to pay attention to the details around you. It may involve paying attention to a person or a situation. We want our kids to be aware and to be able to focus on their surroundings. The activity today is somewhat similar to the concentration game we played yesterday. What we did today was I grabbed our “Fancy Nancy” book. I would let them study the page for a bit. Then I would pull it away and ask specifics about the page.
For example, with the picture above, these were my questions:
* What was hanging on the mirror?
* What shape was the pillow on the bed?
* What kind of shoes was Fancy Nancy wearing?
* What did the umbrella look like?
* Where was Fancy Nancy’s doll?
* Name one kind of stuffed animal that was on the book shelf?
They actually did really well. I asked some pretty hard observations to make on a couple pages, and I was impressed that some of them were taken into account.

After playing this game, we also had some fun looking at our “I Spy” book that requires a lot of attentiveness.
