Leadership
“Whoever wants to be first must be your slave – just as the Son of man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a randsom for many.” – Matthew 20:27-28
Last week we blindfolded the girls to teach them the value of submitting to others who have more insight and have their best intentions in mind. They were being led by me on that day. Today, I wanted to teach them to be the leaders. So, I set up a mine zone outside. This was filled of things that they needed to avoid. They took turns leading the other through the mine field. Since yesterday’s lesson was so unsuccessful, I re-emphasized that when we lead, we have the other person’s best at the heart of our leadership.
Kids love to lead and really need these skills. They don’t get to practice this in school much. I like to let my oldest daughter “teach” her sister by telling her what the names of animals are in books and the sounds of the letters, or by telling her how to do a puzzle. It is fun to see her take on that roll. Thanks for sharing at Mom’s Library!
