Day #235 Sincerity by Learning to ask Questions – Character Development, Week #34

Have you ever played the question game? The concept is simple. You can only ask questions. You look at someone, and you ask a question. They cannot answer. They cannot laugh. They cannot respond in any other way than asking a question back. You keep going until someone messes up. The goal is to throw someone off by asking off the wall, crazy questions. It’s kind of fun. I want my kids to learn the value in learning how to ask questions. My older sister is amazing at it. She was a reporter, so it was both in her nature and her training to be curious, care about people and ask questions. I often observe her skills so that I can do a better job at really getting to know people. I want to teach my kids these skills as well, and it ties in perfectly with our sincerity week. Sincerity is learning to take a genuine interest in the lives of others. So, to practice, we played the questions game. We tried it both the goofy way as well as a couple rounds of asking sincere questions. I modeled what kind of questions showed that you cared and were interested in the other person before we got started.
