I love being in the kitchen with the kids. I have to admit that I’ve had an easier time baking with them then cooking. The combination of knives and heat worries me…especially as I’m trying to navigate it with all three little ones. Often times, I barely feel like I can do it by myself. I decided to go for it tonight though. I made it like a cooking show by having all the things cut up and prepared before we started. Then, they’re mostly just dumping. I had Kenzie help with peeling the carrots also. I decided to make it a game with them too. Smelling is such an integral part of cooking, so I decided to blindfold the kids and have them guess through either smell or taste what was in each bowl. If they couldn’t guess it, I gave them the opportunity to use their eyes too. They had a lot of fun and did a pretty good job guessing. Abby also discovered that she is in love with zucchini. Good discovery. I’ve added the recipe to the yummy soup we made in the next post.
