With Halloween coming up, I thought it might be fun to show you some costumes from our past. I love dressing up. I have loved it since I was a child. I have been creating my own costumes since I was a child. I dug through my old photos trying to find some to share from my past, but there were a few pictures I couldn’t find. I really enjoyed being Marilyn Monroe one year. One of the crazier ideas I had was being Smurfette. I found blue tights, but I painted the rest of my body blue. My friend couldn’t get blue paint powder out of his truck for years. Another more involved costume I made was a costume I made completely out of candy. I thought it was a fun play on Halloween, but it was very involved to make licorice boots, gummy bear earrings, a Werther’s Original skirt and a hot tamale and licorice twirl shirt. Here are the pictures I could find:
Meet Mr. and Mrs. Duct Tape
Where’s Waldo and Wenda?
Our first Halloween with a baby…our little lobster.
And…I have a bun in the oven.
Oh – And I’m very pregnant again. Can you tell?
Here’s the last Halloween we celebrated as a family. Candyland, all the way!
Great photos. You have a very inspiring blog. I have just become a new follower. I would love it if you came and visited my blog: http//lpcrafts.blogpsot.com.au and if you like become a follower of my art and craft activities for kids.
I just found your blog via your feature on Raising Memories. I’m so happy to be a new follower! This post is awesome! I’ve loved creative Halloween costumes ever since I was a kiddo and went as a televison. We’re expecting our new baby son Mid-October. I may be crazy. But- I want to still come up with something for me, my sweetheart, my 20 month old son, and brand new babe to wear!
Nope – not crazy. Fun! 😉
HAHA! I LOVE them! SO fun! Did you make all those Jodi?!?!
Mackenzie
Most – I didn’t make the bun in the oven or the fisherman/lobster costume. I go a little crazy!
I love your Candy Land costumes! I always like it when a family dresses up as the same theme. So cute!
Awesome-I also love dressing up. I love the lobster costumes and the Candyland!
Where is the Smurfette costume?? I want to see that!
I couldn’t find the picture. I dug and dug. Hopefully I’ll find it sometime. A friend of mine might have it. I’ll have to check with her.
Awesome costumes! Can you tell me where you got the fisherman hats?!
Man – did I never respond to this? I think we got them online, but it was 4 years ago, and I don’t quite remember.
Hi Jodi, I love your costumes!!! We don’t celebrate Halloween but we celebrate the Jewish holiday of Purim which also involves dressing up and lots of candy! 🙂 Have you ever done a Willy Wonka theme? We did that a couple of years ago and I made the Oompa Loompa costumes which were a huge hit! We are actually doing Candyland this year and I LOVE your Gramma Nutt Costume – so funky! Would you consider selling it? I usually end up spending so much time on the kids costumes and never have time for my own.
Willy Wonka would be a lot of fun. Just put that on the mental idea list for next year. I would love to see a picture of what you did. I would consider loaning them to you. I’m not quite ready to let them go. If you would be willing to pay shipping and handling, I can send them your way. Just write me an email with your address.
I loved your unique and creative costumes and had to add you to my round-up, “87 Creative Halloween Couples Costumes” (http://www.thedatingdivas.com/holidays/halloween/87-creative-couples-costumes/). Thanks for being awesome and Happy Halloween from The Dating Divas xox
