Kenzie and I started out cutting out leaves for this tree art. I was going to do it on paper, but I fell in love with the design and started to put in on canvas. I got a great deal on canvas’ because they were 50% off, and I had an additional coupon. I was pretty excited about that. I was inspired to create this fall canvas art by a pillow I saw on Remodelaholic.
I made a template for the leaf, and Kenzie helped me pick out some fall colored paper.
Kenzie helped me trace the template onto the different color paper we picked out. I then cut out all of the leaves.
I cut out a tree trunk and laid out the leaves how I wanted them.
We then set to work Mod Podging our art. If you want tips for doing Mod Podge, click back on my previous post. We did one leaf at a time and followed this order: 1) put Mod Podge on the canvas where you want the leaf 2) put Mod Podge on the back of the leaf 3) stick the leaf down 4) put Mod Podge over the top of the leaf. After we had done this with every leaf and the trunk, I put a final coat of Mod Podge over the top.
i was looking for a simple tree craft to do with my 4yr old for a school project and i came across yours, fell i love witht he creativity. i felt that its great for him to do on his own because he could place the leaves wherever he see fit. no needed guidance. thanks for the idea.
I’m so glad you loved this. We had a lot of fun creating it. I’d love to see the results.
