Fridays for us are pizza and movie nights. I decided to go with the pizza theme when I came across this idea from ehow and adapted it slightly. I decided to assign toppings to different traits of being a friend. I helped the kids brainstorm different toppings for pizza. Then, I had them come up with ideas for how to be friendly or make friends. I wrote them down, and we had a pizza parlor being able to order with certain traits or toppings. Kenzie ordered a pizza with mushroom, pepperoni and peppers while Abby ordered a pizza with some hugs, sharing and being nice. Since our little Melissa and Doug set doesn’t come with some of these toppings, we had to pretend. To adapt this idea you could make a real recipe, make your own pizza out of paper (if you don’t have a pizza set), use other play food, make sandwiches for lunch or just pretend. It was fun for the kids to take turns being the pizza maker and the person ordering.
