Here’s a fun little tutorial that I think you’ll enjoy. These are called Egg Pops. They are basically a Popsicle formed inside a plastic egg.
The first step is to take a stick pin and poke a hole in the bottom of the egg. My eggs already had the beginning of a hole in the top, so I had to do it there, or it would have leaked.
The next step is to take a wooden dowel and push it through the hole to make it a bit bigger. You have to twirl and wiggle it a bit.
Next, take a pastry tip and poke it into the egg. My eggs just seemed to break naturally at a bigger point…most anyway. A few just kind of opened up more as I wiggled it in. If yours breaks like mine did, make sure to take the plastic broken part out of the egg so it doesn’t become a part of your Popsicle.
The final steps include taking a pastry tip and using it as a funnel to fill your eggs with juice. Make sure your egg is water tight first and then fill over the sink. It gets a bit messy. We had leftover Kool Aid from Kenzie’s Rainbow Party, so I just mixed that up. After filled, I started to insert the straws. This was challenging for me as the holes were slightly smaller than the straws. Plus, the straws are paper so don’t hold a lot of wait, so I don’t think they were the ideal choice. I squeezed them and wiggled them in. I would suggest getting larger sucker sticks, a wooden dowel or some other alternative. You can see I used some small sucker sticks for some of the ones that didn’t break to the larger hole. Then, you just stick them in the freezer until frozen. Once frozen, you can hold them in your hand to have them melt a bit and release from the egg. I actually stuck them under water to remove the top quicker. Enjoy!
