My kids often are more entertained with my things, Tupperware or turning a variety of household items into creative solutions for play.
We have some fun play-doh toys, but we have also done a great activity with none of our toys. Our kids help me make cakes and cupcakes. They love having a full go of it with play-doh. Fondant is actually a lot like play doh, so it’s great practice for them, but they don’t have to be too careful.
If you give them a mini muffin tin or even a normal size muffin tin, they can pretend to make cupcakes. I have silicone cupcake baking cups too, which work great. They can roll out snakes to make frosting and decorate however they want.
This has kept my kids occupied for quite some time and they ignore all the fancy toys they’ve been given.
Another fabulous idea for this kind of imaginary play is this edible play dough I found at The Soccer Mom Blog. It is made from two very safe ingredients and could be used as part of this cupcake play or how she imagined it, as Ice Cream Play Dough!
Have fun setting up these hands-on, sensory experiences for your kids.
That is the cutest idea! Wished I had heard of this when my daughter was little, she would have loved it!! Oh well…LOL
Thanks for stopping by! I hope to see you again, soon.
