My son absolutely loved making and wearing these superhero paper plate masks. These masks have been worn by all the kids since they were first made, and I made a free template printable for you so that you can easily duplicate the idea with your own kids. You will have templates for Hulk, Spiderman, Captain America, Iron Man and Batman. If you have your own superheroes in your life, you might also really enjoy seeing our birthday party ideas and superhero birthday cake.
What your child can do on their own depends on their age. My son (age 4) was able to trace the template. I did all of the cutting. My son did all of the painting. I drew guidelines for the spiderman mask, but he was able to trace with the puffy paint. I helped when he wanted help. I drew guidelines for hulks hair, and we worked together on the puffy paint. I drew hulks mouth, but he was able to glue all necessary parts in place. He also did the hole punches, but I tied the elastic cord in place.

Hi! I know this is an old post, but I just had to tell you how much this post SAVED me! I teach a middle school class for students with Autism. We just did a school-wide viewing of the total solar eclipse today. I was worried about my kids being able to keep their glasses on. I sae the paper plate hack, but also anticipated that the kids would be “bored” with a plain plate. We adapted your designs into “superhero eclipse viewing masks.” They were a HUGE hit! I even had gen ed students and other staff members asking for us to make them before the viewing! Thank you for helping me give my students a memory and keepsake they will never forget!

Oh my word!! What an amazing idea. I love that! If you have a picture, I’d love to be able to see it and share it on my Facebook page if the parents would allow. jodi@meaningfulmama.com If it’s too much trouble, no worries, but that is such a fun adaptation to this craft. I wish I had thought of it. Thank you so much for sharing!
