Are you looking for a fun and tasty meal the whole family love? I think you will enjoy my three meat Stromboli recipe. A Stromboli is an Italian bread roll filled with a variety of meats, cheeses and vegetables. I have taken the liberty, however, in making a breakfast Stromboli filled with egg, ham and cheese that was delicious too.
The Stromboli I am presenting today is a more traditional version. If you love pizza, this won’t disappoint. The great thing about this rolled meal is that you can really fill it with whatever ingredients appeal to you. I decided to make a three meat version (to keep the kids satisfied) and a three meat version with mushrooms and kalamata olives for more flavor. I also took one of the Stromboli rolls to a family in our church that just had a baby. It’s a great option when you need to think of a meal to take to another family.
Ingredients to Make a Three Meat Stromboli

1 cup warm water
1 pack dry yeast (about 2 1/4 tsp)
3 cup flour + 2 Tbsp flour, divided
1 Tbsp sugar
1/4 tsp. salt
cooking spray
Filling:
2/3 cup pizza sauce
1 cup mozzarella
1 cup provolone
8 oz Italian sausage
6 oz Canadian bacon
3 oz pepperoni
4 oz can sliced mushrooms
1/3 cup kalamata olives, sliced
Directions to Make a Three Cheese Meat Stromboli
Dough: Combine warm water and yeast into a large bowl and let it stand for 5 minutes. Lightly spoon flour into measuring cup to measure out 3 cups. Spoon it in so that it is not packed firmly. Level with a knife and add the flour, sugar and salt to yeast mixture. Stir to form a dough. Turn dough onto a floured surface. Knead until smooth and elastic (about 5 minutes). If needed, add 1 Tbsp flour at a time, to prevent dough from sticking to your hands. Dough will feel slightly sticky. Place dough in a large bowl coated with cooking spray, turning to coat the top. Cover and let rise in a warm place, free from drafts for 1 hour or until dough is doubled in size. Gently press two fingers into the dough. If the indentation remains, dough has risen enough. Punch dough down; cover and let rest for 5 minutes. Press dough into a jelly roll pan coated with cooking spray. It should reach to the edges.
Preparing: Spread pizza sauce around the dough leaving a one inch boarder. Layer with cheese, meats and additional toppings. Carefully roll your Stromboli. Start on one long side and, using two hands, roll up to meet the other side. Press seam firmly to seal. Seal the short ends as well. Place roll, seam side down, on pan. Cut 4 slits across top of the dough using a sharp knife to vent. Now that you are rolled up, let it rise for 30 minutes. Lightly coat dough with cooking spray. Bake at 350 for 40 minutes. Let stand for 10 minutes before slicing.
