Spider Lollipop Tutorial

I know. Halloween isn’t even close. So why am I making spider lollipops now? My son just had his birthday, and it was a superhero birthday party. I wanted to find food and party favors that reflected all of the superheroes I was including – Spiderman, Superman, and Batman.
One of the ways I wanted to represent Spiderman was to make these fun spider lollipops. You may have seen them before, but I wanted to give you a bit of a tutorial. They are super easy to make. They’re perfect for a superhero party, spider study, or Halloween.
Materials Needed to Make These Spider Lollipops
- Lollipops (I used red Chupa Chups, thanks to my friend, Jeremy, who has a ridiculous stash of them)
- Pipe Cleaners (3 per spider)
- Small Craft Eyes (2 per spider)
- Hot Glue Gun & Hot Glue
How to Make Spider Lollipops
As with all my craft tutorials, I encourage you to get your kids involved. Whether you are making these for a classroom harvest party, a Spiderman birthday party, or to hand out at Halloween, having your children help develops their fine motor skills and builds into family relationships.
- Take three pipe cleaners and find their middle. The middle of the pipe cleaners will be set at the base of the lollipop.
- Next, wrap the pipe cleaners around the stick two or three times. The picture above shows you what it should look like at this point.
- Now bend the pipe cleaners to create the “knees” and then the little feet. It should just stand up on its pipe cleaner legs at this point. If not, you can adjust them slightly until they do stand up.
- The final step is to hot glue the eyes onto the thick part of the pipe cleaners.
There you have the spider lollipop that will be perfect for your own superhero or harvest party.
