What are Snickerdoodles?
A snickerdoodle is a soft, chewy cookie with a slightly crisp edge. It is known for classic simplicity and nostalgic flavors of cinnamon and sugar. While cooling, the top crackles, which contributes to the texture
It is made with a buttery dough and has a slight tang because of the cream of tartar. The flavor is sweet with a hint of vanilla, balanced by the classic taste and smell of the cinnamon, making each bite both cozy and crave-worthy. It’s the kind of cookie that feels like home.

- 2 eggs
- 2 3/4 cups flour
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 2 tsp cream of tartar
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 2 Tbsp white sugar
- 2 tsp ground cinnamon
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375, and line cookie sheets with parchment paper.
- In a medium bowl, cream together 1 cup softened butter and 1 1/2 cups sugar.
- Stir in 2 eggs, and mix together until completely combined.
- In a separate bowl, sift together the 2 3/4 cups of flour, 1 tsp baking soda, 2 tsp cream of tartar, and 1/2 tsp salt.
- Once combined, stir into the creamed mixture and blend well.
- In a different small bowl, stir together the 2 Tbsp white sugar and 2 tsp cinnamon.
- Roll dough into walnut-sized balls (about 1 Tbsp). Then, roll the balls in the cinnamon-sugar mixture.
- Place cookie balls onto lined cookie sheets, two inches apart.
- Bake for 8-10 minutes. Remove from sheets after 15 minutes to cool on a wire rack. Cookies continue to solidify and collapse as they cool.

As always, I encourage you to get baking with your kids. There are spoons to be licked, lessons to be learned, and memories to create as you enter the kitchen together.
