My husband completely inspired this dish. He looked in our freezer and inquired about the frozen pork. “We should use this,” he said. He wanted me to do pulled pork sandwiches. Then, he looked in the refrigerator and saw that I had some pizza dough. He immediately said, “You should try and make a BBQ pulled pork pizza. Hmmm…that could be good. I’d never made it. I think I had heard of it. It seemed like it would be easy enough, and it was. I did my easy, easy, easy pulled pork recipe.
Pulled Pork
All you do is put 3-4 pounds of boneless pork shoulder in a small amount of water and stick it in your slow cooker. Season with salt and pepper. Cover and cook on low for 8-10 hours. When done cooking, let it stand for 15 minutes, discard liquid, shred with a fork and throw on 1 (16 oz) bottle of barbecue sauce (I like Bullseye). If you want it to be amazing and yet more unhealthy, throw in a Root Beer. Cover and cook on high for 30 more minutes.
Make it Into a Pizza
I had some pizza dough from Trader Joe’s. You could make your own too. Roll it out. Put the BBQ pulled pork on top and cover that with 12 ounces of Mozzarella cheese or your own favorite pizza cheese mixture. You can add onions if you want to. We aren’t really onion people, but I imagine if we were it would be a pretty good addition. Bake according to your pizza dough directions.
Love Trader Joe’s pizza crust! 🙂 When we moved to TX we didn’t have one near us and we missed the dough SO much. I started making my own and it was very close to the TJ recipe. Now we have one close to our home and I admit I am back to buying their dough for those busy nights! 😉 This sounds delish; great idea!
Is your recipe on your site? My husband wanted this for dinner tomorrow night but I do not have a pizza dough I love.
You can put almost anything on a pizza and it’s good but never thought of this. This looks absolutely fabulous. Thank you for your inspiration.
We may have met by chance…but we become friends by choice.

The pizzeria we used when I was growing up used to do the best bbq pizza. I’ve never thought about making it at home.
