Bubble Birthday Party Ideas
The celebration featured here was put on by my sister-in-law for my sweet 3-year-old nephew, Wells. She covered it all for you. This is a collection of ideas for decorating, cake design, party favors, and treats for a bubble birthday party.
I love a themed party. For some, I know this kind of party feels stressful to host. For others, it is a creative outlet that brings joy to parenting.
I always want to encourage moms to lean into their own gifts and talents while also being willing to be stretched to new heights. I’m not saying you should throw elaborate parties. My thought is, if you are more of a crafty mom, head out on a hike every once in a while with your kiddos. If you are a sports mom, find some time to sit down and play a board game with the kids. It’s good to embrace your own personality while also looking for areas of growth.
You may never thought of a birthday party that looks like this. However, maybe you will be inspired by one portion. Maybe you will be inspired to do a theme for the first time. Perhaps you will consider a creative party favor. Want to give cake decorating a try? I can help you learn the basics with my cake-making 101 post.
Whatever the reason you are here, whether you are browsing for ideas or just looking for fun, I am glad you have found Meaningful Mama. I hope this bubble birthday party brings you joy.
Bubble Birthday Party Shopping List
This post contains Amazon affiliate links. Anything you purchase through these links helps support the free resources I offer here at Meaningful Mama.
My desire for this post is to make celebrating easy. Therefore, this is a one-stop shopping experience, with links provided for your convenience.
Note: My sister-in-law is super busy with a baby due any day, a house under remodel, and 3 other kids, so I didn’t want to bug her to find the specific products. The items I have listed for this 3-year-old bubble birthday party are close to what she purchased. I tried to look for the most cost-effective items. Feel free to find the best fit for you.
- Balloon Ring
- Teal Balloon Arch Kit – These are a lot less expensive than you might imagine and are not hard to do, especially if you have an easy way to blow up balloons, like an air compressor. The one I linked to looks close, but obviously the gold ones weren’t used. Feel free to find the best fit for you.
- Clear Bubble Balloons
- Teal and Turquoise Crepe Paper Streamers
- Heavy Card Stock
- Bermuda Blue Paper Plates
- Teal Cocktail Napkins
- Turquoise Party Cups
- Aqua Forks
- Blue Sixlets
- Blue Bubble Wands
- Large Blue Bubble Wands for Party Favors – I couldn’t find them on Amazon, but I found them for less than a dollar at Michael’s. Party City might be another place to check.
- Bubble Tape for Party Favors
- Coconut Pineapple Bubly – I’m sure you can find this cheaper at the grocery store.
- Bubble Letters and Numbers
- Thin Chiffon White Ribbon
- Thin Turquoise Ribbon
- Glass Cake Stand with Rim – I’m not sure where she bought hers, but I found this one at Crate and Barrel. It’s about half the price of the only one I found on Amazon.
- Bubble Maker or Bubble Guns
- Small Clear Cups for Jello
- Blue Jello
- Mini Marshmallows
How to Make A Bubble Birthday Party Balloon Arch and Party Table Backdrop
A supply list is provided above, but I will talk you through the setup.
My sister-in-law created this bubble backdrop display under a white party tent. However, the look can be just as easily created against a wall in a home or a yard.
- Tape Your streamers in a line at the top of the wall or tent. You will want to alternate teal and turquoise and make that display slightly larger than the size of your balloon arch/circle.
- Twist your streamers to create the twirl effect and tape at the bottom of the wall.
- Set up your balloon circle in front of the crepe paper streamer display.
- Print out “Happy Birthday (your child’s name)” using the Baby Gemo font found here. This will look nicest if printed on heavy stock paper.
- Punch two holes in the upper part of your letters and string onto your chiffon ribbon. Tie to the balloon arch and tape in place.
- Blow up the balloons and attach them to the balloon arch. Balloon arch kits come with a plastic strip the balloons fit easily into, and you can wrap this around the balloon arch. Alternatively, create multiple groups of four balloons by tying the inflated balloons together and wrapping them around the arch. This video might be helpful if you are a visual learner.
- My sister-in-law found the bubble outline on Cricut. I tried to re-create the concept on Canva with my limited graphic design ability. It’s not perfect, but here’s the free bubble outline printable for you. You can scale it as you need for printing. Use glue dots or tape to adhere to the front of the balloon arch.
Decor for a Blue Bubble Birthday Party
I will provide photo inspiration for the rest of the party. I think the design will be self-explanatory.
The bubble birthday party ideas featured above include paper plates surrounded by cutely wrapped plastic silverware, jello cups with marshmallows on top, a Bubble Tape party gift, and a display of Bubly drinks for guests.
Bubble Birthday Cake
The bubble birthday cake is perfectly clean, simple, and chic. Simply bake a cake in an oven-safe glass bowl or semi-sphere 8″ cake pan. She used my easy white velvet cake and tasty buttercream. Use the handle of a spoon to lightly press into the cake as you twirl it on your rotating cake decorating stand and move your spoon handle up toward the top as you rotate.
The top of the cake has a 3 cut-out and is attached to the plastic bubble wand. The bottom of the cake plate is full of Sixlets. Easy-peasy.
Time to Play with Bubbles
The party was made complete with the birthday boy and his cousins playing with bubbles. It was lovely to be able to celebrate the life and gift of this sweet boy.
