Risk Taker
“Have I not commanded you, ‘Be strong and courageous! Do not tremble or be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.” – Joshua 1:9
I’m sure many of you are familiar with the Dr. Seuss book, “Oh, the Places You’ll Go!” It’s fabulous. I think the book fits right on in with our risk taking theme. After reading the book, we were able to discuss some of the meaning behind it and how it relates to risk taking. I asked them if they thought they’d be able to go lots of places in life if they weren’t taking risks. I asked them about the part of the story where people were in waiting. I said, “If people just are waiting for something to happen to them, are they taking risks?” When discussing the page where there’s a decision to stay out of a new place or move in despite fears, we talked about the importance of weighing risks and being willing to move forward if they feel like they have thought it through with the right perspective. Part of that is seeking wisdom from God and his Word. I told them I truly believed they would “go places” in their own lives.
I have loved using this book to help teach so many things – I’d love for you to share this post with my Book Hop, if you’re interested.
