“For you were called to freedom, brothers. Only do not use your freedom as an opportunity to sin; but through love serve one another.” – Galatians 5:13
On one of the last day of Jesus’ life he took the time to wash his disciples feet. It was a lowly job, and he told his disciples to go and do likewise. Other places in the Bible it tells us to be like Jesus – the ultimate servant. Before I began telling my kids to help and serve, I wanted to teach them the story about washing the disciples feet and then serve them. So, we sat down and read the “stinky feet” version of the washing of the disciples feet in the “Jesus Storybook Bible.” Then, I went and washed their feet. While I was washing, I told them that real message of the story isn’t about stinky feet but it’s about Jesus serving us and his message to serve others. After washing their feet, I painted their toe nails. Gotta add a little pretty.
