The Bible’s creation story is such a beautiful truth of how God brought our world into existence. To teach kids that both the earth and they as humans were created with design and purpose is invaluable.
Play-Doh is such a fun and tactile experience for kids. Hands-on play that teaches spiritual truths connects the body, mind, and soul, and it can be one of many tools that draws children closer to the Lord.
The creation story is found in the first two books of the Bible: Genesis 1 & 2. I encourage you to do this activity in conjunction with reading scripture. Age-appropriate Bibles like the Jesus Storybook Bible (one I think every believer and anyone new to Christianity should read) are a great option.
Another amazing way to communicate the creation story is my favorite creation children’s book, “At the Break of Day.” Unfortunately, they are no longer being printed, so the price on Amazon is high.

How to Play with these Creation Story Play-Doh Mats
- Print out the free printable provided.
- Laminate if you want the free printables to last longer.
- Let kids play. They will be mostly making snakes to match the shapes on the mat. You may need to teach them how to make a Play-Doh snake. These can be done one day at a time as you are learning the different days of creation. They can be played with all at once. This can be an activity that goes along with the story from Genesis. It can also be used during quiet playtime. The use of these creation Play-Doh mats is quite flexible.
Kids learn through play and hands-on experience. I am grateful you are here and are being intentional about teaching your kids the truth about God’s Word.
